Hope You Have A Blessed Christmas and Joyous New Year in 2020!
Greetings! My name is Irene Camerino and I am your 2020 Program and Workshop Chair. I have been a member of SCTA for the last 5 years. In addition to my full time job as a sales rep, I upcycle vintage kimono and obi Japanese textiles into clothing, purses, and home accessories; I do it all… deconstructing, designing, sewing, and modeling of my creations. I am looking for several outspoken creative folks to be a part of the Program and Workshop Committee, whose goal is to offer inspiring artistic presentations at our membership meetings and workshops to meet the needs of our growing membership. Our first textile fundraiser was the Kyoto Kimono Vintage Silk Haori Sale (short kimono jacket) which we had at our September Meeting and at Art To Wear. It was a great Members Only perk and the proceeds will help pay for room rentals and speaker’s honorariums for upcoming programs/ workshops.
At our January 8th meeting, I will be presenting a draft of the proposed 2020 programs and workshops & it will also be a great opportunity to meet other new members and get suggestions for speakers/ topics. My goal is to offer at least 1 program of interest to each member. And I will also have a slide show of a 2021 Kyoto Textile Tour I’d like to offer to our members. We only need 6 participants and the included textile workshops can be customized to fit the participants’ interests such as shibori dyeing, vegetable/ indigo dyeing, wax-resist/ yuzen painting workshops, weaving workshops, sashiko workshops, etc.
I am looking forward to meeting and hearing feedback from you. Please let me know if you would like to be part of my Program & Workshop Committee or if you have a great recommendation for future fundraisers, speakers, or workshops… I can be reached at irenecamerino69@gmail.com or via Facebook: Irene’s Original
The January general meeting will be Wednesday, January 8, 2020, from 1 to 3 pm, at Shepard Garden & Arts Center.
