Needle Arts Group Meeting August 24th

Jul 30, 2024 | Needle Arts Study Group

We have the Shepard Garden & Arts Center reserved for Saturday mornings on August 24 and November 2 for Needle Arts workshops. On August 24 we will be working on stitching “Sashiko.” This ancient Japanese needlecraft is easy to learn and gives quick results. Sashiko blends well with indigo-dyed cloth and has a special appearance of white-on-blue embroidery. Many and varied textile pieces can be created with Sashiko stitching. Come join in on the slow stitching and create simple, functional pieces (e.g. pin cushion, mug rug, small pillow) or just for visible mending on old pair of jeans or denim jacket. Minimal supplies (needles and thread) needed. Various types of cloth for creating will be provided. Barbra Lord will facilitate with additional help and assistance from attendees. The November topic will be announced later.
