About Us

Our Story and Mission

The Sacramento Collective for the Textile Arts (SCTA) is a passionate community dedicated to nurturing creativity and fostering connections among textile enthusiasts. Founded in 1979, our non-profit organization has been a cornerstone for artists, collectors, and admirers of fiber arts. We are committed to inspiring both emerging and seasoned artists through dynamic programs, collaborative opportunities, and a shared love for textiles. Our mission is to promote the appreciation and understanding of textile arts while supporting the artistic journey of our members.

What We Do

We offer a diverse range of educational programs throughout the year, fostering creativity, learning, and community.

Our Programs Include:

  • Inspiring Lectures – Hear from nationally recognized guest speakers on topics such as surface design, ethnic textiles, artistic clothing, quilting, weaving, jewelry, and textile marketplaces.
  • Hands-On Workshops – Learn and refine techniques in dyeing, printing, beading, quilting, embroidery, felting, mixed media, and papermaking/bookbinding.
  • Exclusive Bus Trips – Enjoy curated trips to special events, exhibits, and destinations that celebrate the textile arts.

We welcome everyone to join us—whether you’re a beginner, a seasoned artist, or simply curious about textile arts!
